The Reform UK leader Accuses Educators of ‘Indoctrinating Children’ on Racial Topics

The political figure stated that teachers would go on strike shortly after a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “poisoning our kids” by instructing students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.

During an event for a Michigan-based religious institution, the politician expressed his viewpoint on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.

“I’m anticipating a teachers’ strike soon after securing a victory,” he remarked in response to questions.

“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They inform little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and a white child of the same age that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this harmful mindset.”

In response to Farage’s claims, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. Kebede noted that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.

“The politician has crafted his public life on coded rhetoric and currently, like Trump, he is lining up teachers and their organizations for a fight,” Kebede stated.

“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – advocate such divisive theories as he claims … If he were to lead the government he would sell out our public services, particularly schooling … and he would be a disaster for students and learning.”

The party, which tops surveys by a significant margin, has not set out much detail on its educational plans and seems not to have designated an education lead.

Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks indicated the party would overhaul the educational framework. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”

Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.

Paying tribute to a conservative activist, he commented: “My goal for schooling is to foster independent thought – to instruct people that multiple perspectives exist and they should decide for themselves rather than what’s happening now where one is virtuous and one is evil. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”

The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.

The politician has charged the union head with being “an avowed radical” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned through education, their minds should be poisoned about everything to do with this country” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.

Almost one million people are employed in education in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has about 450,000 members.

Countrywide walkouts over educators’ salaries and work environment in 2023 led to significant interruptions in educational institutions and millions of days of lost learning for students.

At the US event, Farage also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He said such groups were “key to resistance”, noting: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to your online courses. I make that commitment now and I’ll do that.”

The institution, a religious educational establishment, offers free courses. According to its online description: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to maintain the benefits of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
