The network's Leading New Show of 2025 Earns a Major Renewal for Two More Seasons.

Last October, Adult Swim saw the return of its quirky hit, Smiling Friends. But, later that same month, the network introduced a completely new animated series with a markedly softer tone. Haha, You Clowns emerged as heartwarming and calm, in the spirit of a cartoon version of a contemplative talk show. In an era often marked by dark humor, this show's earnestness struck a chord and helped it become a surprise hit.

A Significant Investment

On December 18th, the network confirmed a big renewal: Haha, You Clowns has been picked up for a further two seasons. This offers showrunner Joe Cappa a massive runway to expand upon the story of the Campbell family. The series focuses on three respectful teenage brothers whose primary trait is their strong bond for their widowed father, with Cappa voicing for all four central characters.

"My deepest thanks go to the audience of the show who gave *Haha, You Clowns* a chance and shared it with others," remarked Cappa. "It's thrilling that I get to hang out at the Campbell household for a little longer."

A President's Endorsement

In the same announcement praise from Adult Swim president Michael Ouweleen, who described the series as "profoundly sincere and strangely uncanny." He thanked the fans who embraced the show and supported its peculiarly charming style.

"All of you showed up for this new show, praised it on social media, and helped it grow week over week so we could approve not one, but two more seasons," commented Ouweleen. "To quote: 'You are strong! You are loved!'"

A Wholesome Alternative

Upon its debut, Haha, You Clowns was hailed as "a gentle counterpart" to other adult animated fare. There’s something deeply soothing about watching this endearing family go about their everyday routines.

Previously, creator Joe Cappa shared his hope to move the comedy genre beyond its long-running cynical streak. He attributed this trend to a broader media landscape.

“It feels like there's a default mode of irony that we can't get ourselves out of,” noted Cappa. “The attitude is that we have to know we’re the smartest person in the room when we're watching stuff. I feel like we've been doing this for too long, and we need to laugh at something different now. It's time for comedy to grow.”

What Comes Next

With this renewal, with Haha, You Clowns set to continue, Cappa could potentially catalyze that very evolution. If nothing else, the renewal ensures audiences a little more time to bask in the gentle humor of the endearing Campbell clan.

The season 1 finale of Haha, You Clowns will premiere on December 21st. The entire series is currently streaming on HBO Max.
