Socially Conscious Entrepreneurs advocating for social causes via frozen treats

One of the co-founders behind the famous frozen dessert company Ben & Jerry's has announced that corporate owner the multinational conglomerate prevented the launch for a new pro-Palestinian ice cream flavor.

The entrepreneur, that established the business alongside his partner, disclosed that he plans to personally create this new product within a personal series highlighting issues the company has been prevented from speaking out about.

Longstanding Dispute Between Creators and Parent Company

This latest development intensifies the continuing disagreement among the internationally recognized ice cream maker and its corporate parent, the UK-based consumer goods corporation which has owned the ice cream brand for over two decades.

Both founders maintain that the parent company and their ice cream division Magnum improperly prevented Ben & Jerry's from "honouring its social mission".

Watermelon Sorbet becoming a Symbol of Solidarity

The entrepreneur stated via an Instagram video that he is creating an innovative watermelon-flavored sorbet, requesting consumer ideas for naming options and additional components.

“I'm doing what they were prevented from doing,” the founder declared from his kitchen. “I'm creating a watermelon-based ice cream that advocates for lasting ceasefire in Palestine and calls for addressing the harm that was done there.”

This particular fruit has become a symbol of solidarity with the Palestinian people because of its coloration, that mirror the colors in the Palestinian flag – red, green, black and white.

Historical Social Engagement plus Current Developments

Several years ago, the ice cream company ceased sales of its products in territories occupied by Israel, resulting in the parent company selling the Israeli operation over to an Israeli distributor, thereby permitting continued sales in the occupied West Bank.

This upcoming product line is being created through Ben's Best, the activist dessert company which was first created in 2016 to support ex- US presidential candidate Senator Sanders with the flavor "Bernie's Back".

Leadership Changes plus Future Intentions

The founder stated how he plans to create additional ice cream flavors focusing on issues that Ben & Jerry's was silenced from speaking about openly by Unilever.

The announcement comes after co-founder Jerry Greenfield resigned his position at Ben & Jerry's recently, following decades with the organization, citing concerns regarding how the company's autonomy had been compromised after Unilever's decision to curb their advocacy work.

At that time, Mr. Cohen commented how “My partner has strong compassion and the ongoing dispute with Unilever was breaking it."

"My heart compels me to continue to work inside the company to fight for its independence ensuring that it can actualise its ethical purpose, the values which established its foundation and has maintained for decades," he explained to media outlets.
