American skiing icon Lindsey Vonn asserts she will be "perfectly prepared" for the upcoming Winter Olympics, after earning a top-three finish for the fourth time in five World Cup competitions. The 41-year-old, who recently made history by becoming the most senior racer to win a downhill World Cup winner, came in third place in the super-G in Val d'Isere on Sunday. This marked her one hundred and forty-second career World Cup podium finish. Impressive Performance in the French Alps Returning to the French Alps resort for the first time in eight years, Vonn finished the course in a time of 1:20.60. She was 0.36 seconds behind victor Sofia Goggia of Italy, with New Zealand's Alice Robinson taking second place. "I was slightly lacking the right line on the first jump," the skier commented. "Subsequently, I performed strongly. I'm happy with my performance today, in contrast to in the super-G in St Moritz, where I was too conservative." This result was her second podium at Val d'Isere over the weekend, having also claimed bronze in the downhill race on Saturday. A Remarkable Comeback from Injury Vonn stepped away from competition in early 2019 as a result of persistent injuries. However, she staged a competitive comeback in late 2024 after a significant orthopedic procedure. With less than two months remaining until the Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics, which are scheduled for February 6th to the 22nd, Vonn's performances are highly promising. She has one gold and two bronze medals in her collection and is firmly on track to represent the United States at the 2026 Games. "When we get to Cortina, I will be where I need to be," the athlete confirmed. Chasing More Titles In addition to her Games aspirations, Vonn is also aiming to increase the four World Cup titles she has accumulated over a career spanning two decades. She presently enjoys a 69-point lead at the summit of the downhill World Cup rankings and is ranked fifth in the super-G World Cup table. This current World Cup campaign features a total of nine races taking place before the season finals in Kvitfjell, Norway on March 21st, 2026.
