The British player made it to the third stage in three of the four Grand Slams this year. The British tennis star Emma Raducanu has withdrawn from her final two events of the year as a result of a health issue that has affected her in recent days. At 22 years old had planned to participate in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to regain her health before starting next year's training. Her upcoming training will include coach Francisco Roig, as the pair have agreed to work together in 2026. She had her blood pressure taken in her opening round against Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion. Another medical visit was necessary medical attention at this week's Ningbo Open, where she was defeated in three sets to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round. Raducanu was also moving with clear difficulty in the final set versus Zhu due to a lower back issue that has affected her during parts of the season. Those results meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally after a long gap since her previous ranking, concluded with three straight losses. Raducanu had three match points before losing to American player Jessica Pegula in round three in the Beijing tournament last month. She secured 28 matches this year and advanced to the semis in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at the Miami event in March. Ranked first in Britain advanced to the quarters of a premier WTA event, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro en route then falling in a three-set match to the world number four Pegula. Her coach was Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Francisco Roig stepping in in time for the US Open. The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was until the end of the season but the collaboration persists, with planned training sessions for the end of the year. The athlete revealed that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they aimed to maintain secrecy. She nearly succeeded to overcoming Sabalenka, the world number one at their first tournament together in Cincinnati in August. Roig joined her in New York, where she reached the third round before being beaten by 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
