Pursuing New Avenues Outside of The Sport During a broadcast discussion, the manager was questioned on speculation linking him with open coaching positions in the top flight and other leagues. “My role with England was not just a job—it was a mission representing my nation,” he answered. “It will be tough to match that experience. After nearly four decades in the game, I’m now exploring new fields where I can contribute positively.” A Passion for Role Models Prior to the launch of his upcoming book, his new work on leadership, the author emphasized that he is “very passionate” about providing role models for young people, drawing on lessons from his tenure as England’s men’s football manager between 2016 and 2024, as well as his experiences as a parent. Southgate feels that his journey managing the squad, during which the team shifted from being widely disliked to widely supported, holds broader applications. “At the beginning, there was a major gap between the team and the fans,” he noted. “Many perceived the squad as arrogant, but we managed to change that perception.
