Rob Edwards and O'Neil represent the initial names in the frame to succeed Vitor Pereira as manager of Wolves.

Pereira was sacked on Sunday after the squad's 10-match without a victory start to the top-flight season.

Furthermore both candidates - both of who have previous links to the team - are among the names to be evaluated by the club leadership.

Edwards is presently at another club, which would create a possible hurdle to his appointment at Wolves' stadium.

However the former Luton head coach - who played more than 100 of games for the club during his playing career - is considered a leading contender for the position.

The 42-year-old is reportedly enjoys support from the Wolves board as they begin the search of appointing a fresh manager.

O'Neil is also emerging as a surprise contender, even though he would be a shock appointment given he was sacked by Wolves in the previous winter.

The ex- West Ham United player is out of work which means Wolves would not need to pay any buyout fee.
