Former Physician Accused of Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Patients

Prosecutors have announced that a ex- physician now faces charges for performing assaults involving thirty-eight victims who were under his care.

The Serious Allegations

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – including acts against children younger than 13 – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.

One deputy chief prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Police Inquiry

These allegations come after what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

Breakdown of Charges

Prosecutors said the 45 charges comprise:

  • Fifteen counts of assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.

Police are urging individuals with information to get in touch with the relevant police force.
